Convenor, BLAIM 2.0
Professor & Director
Scientific Communication, Outreach & Public Engagement (SCOPE)
Parul University, Gujarat, India

Dear Distinguished Colleagues, Researchers, and Participants,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to BLAIM 2.0, organised by Scientific Communication, Outreach & Public Engagement (SCOPE), Parul University, under the theme “Gen Z for Sustainable, Just and Human-Centred Futures.”

Contemporary challenges in mental health, social inequality, criminal justice, technological accountability, and sustainable development require approaches that integrate scientific evidence, human behaviour, and local realities. The National Academies (2005) emphasised the value of interdisciplinary research in addressing complex problems, while the WHO (2022) and UNESCO (2021) have highlighted the importance of coordinated mental health responses and ethical governance of emerging technologies. Together, these perspectives reinforce the need for research that connects disciplines, institutions, and communities.

Inspired by MIT D-Lab’s approach to participatory design, community engagement, and context-sensitive innovation, BLAIM 2.0 seeks to strengthen the relationship between research and its practical application. Bringing together neuroscience, behavioural sciences, medicine, mindfulness, law, criminology, artificial intelligence, and public policy, the conference encourages critical examination of evidence and the development of socially relevant research directions.

Our focus on Generation Z acknowledges the importance of engaging young researchers and innovators in examining the behavioural, legal, ethical, and societal implications of technological and institutional change.

At SCOPE, we work towards integrating laboratory-based investigations, field research, professional expertise, and community participation. Through our multidisciplinary research clusters, specialised laboratories, research centres, and international academic collaborations, we aim to support evidence-informed interventions, responsible innovation, and research capacity building.

I see BLAIM 2.0 as an opportunity to identify shared research priorities, establish interdisciplinary partnerships, and develop collaborative initiatives with relevance to policy, professional practice, and community needs. The value of this conference will lie not only in the knowledge exchanged but also in the research questions, partnerships, and practical initiatives that emerge from it.

I look forward to welcoming you to Parul University and to your contributions towards advancing rigorous, collaborative, and socially responsible research.

With regards,
Prof. (Dr.) Richa Mishra

About the conference

A multidisciplinary platform for scholars, practitioners and change makers.

The BLAIM 2.0 International Conference is a multidisciplinary platform bringing together distinguished scholars, researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and change makers from across the globe. The conference explores the intersections of mindfulness, behavioural science, psychology, criminology, social and criminal justice, legal innovation, and emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), fostering academic dialogue, knowledge exchange, and international collaboration.

Centred on the theme “Gen Z for Sustainable, Just and Human-Centred Futures,” the conference examines the role of younger generations in shaping contemporary social, technological, and institutional landscapes. It addresses key areas including mental health and psychological resilience, human rights, youth leadership, digital governance, AI accountability, social inclusion, and sustainable innovation.

Organised by Scientific Communication, Outreach and Public Engagement (SCOPE), Parul University, in association with the Faculty of Law, Faculty of Ayurved, Faculty of Pharmacy, and Faculty of Medicine, the conference reflects a commitment to interdisciplinary research and human-centred development.

Through keynote addresses, expert discussions, research presentations, and workshops, BLAIM 2.0 aims to promote scholarly collaboration, innovative thinking, and practical approaches to contemporary societal challenges, contributing to a more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable future.

Purpose

Aim, rationale and participation.

01Aim

BLAIM 2.0 aims to foster interdisciplinary dialogue integrating mindfulness, behavioural science, legal innovation, social and criminal justice, and emerging technologies to address contemporary societal challenges. The conference seeks to bridge individual awareness and institutional transformation by promoting psychological well-being, ethical leadership, evidence-based research, and human-centred governance. Particular emphasis is placed on responsible artificial intelligence, inclusive policymaking, youth participation, and sustainable development. Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the conference aspires to encourage scholarly collaboration, practical innovation, and meaningful societal change.

02Rationale

Rapid technological advancement, changing behavioural patterns, mental health concerns, social inequalities, and declining institutional trust present increasingly complex challenges that extend beyond traditional disciplinary boundaries. The growing influence of artificial intelligence on social interactions, governance, and criminal justice further raises concerns regarding ethics, accountability, privacy, and human rights. BLAIM 2.0 responds to these challenges by bringing together behavioural, psychological, legal, and technological perspectives to develop integrated and evidence-informed solutions. Recognising the evolving role of Generation Z in shaping digital culture, social values, and institutional expectations, the conference encourages innovative approaches to leadership, justice, education, and public service, contributing to a more equitable, resilient, and sustainable future.

03Academic and scientific highlights

The conference programme includes international keynote addresses, multidisciplinary research presentations, expert panel discussions, interactive workshops, an innovation hackathon and opportunities for global research networking. Particular emphasis will be placed on connecting scientific discoveries with practical challenges in mental health, public safety, responsible AI, institutional resilience and youth development.

04Research participation

BLAIM 2.0 invites researchers, academicians, clinicians, legal professionals, criminologists, AI experts, data scientists, and emerging scholars to contribute original research through scientific presentations and interdisciplinary collaborations. Participants are encouraged to submit structured abstracts of 200–300 words, highlighting research objectives, methodology, findings, and potential societal impact.

Through SCOPE, Parul University, the conference offers opportunities for research engagement across multidisciplinary clusters, supported by its Mind Lab, Sensor Development Lab, and developing Neuro-Regeneration & Aging Lab. These research ecosystems foster collaboration with SCOPE's core research team and domain experts, including practising neurosurgeons, neuroscientists, psychologists, lawyers, criminologists, AI specialists, and data scientists, encouraging translational research, technological innovation, and evidence-based solutions.
